It’s summer time, and that means it’s time for big, dumb summer blockbusters where aliens attack, dinosaurs roam the earth, and sweaty muscle people wrestle with one another on screen for our enjoyment. As queer folks, we might not have always identified with the big, macho, camoflaged heroes walking around with big guns and even bigger guns. But we’re grown now! It’s a new era, where fighting has more than one meaning and action stars can (and should) be queer! And we’ve also reclaimed camo… when the look is right.
This month, our beautiful queer film “professors” will discuss their favorite punchy and explody movies that helped them see this genre in a different light. Maybe it’s for the camp factor. Maybe it’s for the intrigue and whodunnit of it all. And sometimes it’s just because big hot bodies are fun to watch on screen! Whatever your reason, we hope you’ll join us and remember what it means to be the hero of your own story!
Everyone is welcome, as always! And the show is entirely free.
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7:30pm.
Reverie Books will be there selling queer-themed merch. And Mochi Mochi, the anime-themed drag show, will happen afterward!
