Who we are
Queer Film Theory 101 (or QFT for short) is a community of LGBTQIA2S+ folks who gather regularly to do queer readings of popular media that help us to better see and understand our place in the world. It’s part storytelling, it’s part media studies, and it’s a great way to just get together and celebrate our differences.
Comedian Micheal Foulk started the show back in 2015 at the Barrel o’ Fun before he moved to San Francisco to launch a new iteration of the show with the Alamo Drafthouse at the famous Mission Theatre.
Veteran show runners and besties Mike Graupmann and Lesley Clayton assumed production of the Austin show in 2017 and co-hosted the show up to and throughout the pandemic, eventually reviving the stage show in 2021 at the Highball.
In 2026, QFT expanded its horizons in two significant ways. First, QFT superstar Olivia Biehle stepped into Lesley’s spot as co-host of the show, and the show began to include new forms of media beyond film, like TV, anime, video games, comic books and more.
